MEET CARLY
She/Her;
Travel, outdoors, physical activity, exploring;
Pisces.
Upon my journey on this rollercoaster we call life; through all of the hardships and obstacles, to all of the achievements and successes, I have come to realize that the things I am most thankful for are the people and influences that helped guide me to where I am today. These factors have helped me come across my passion of helping others cope with similar life stressors and accept achievements for what they are. In a ‘pay it forward’ mindset, I hope to be a similar influence and guidance to others and help share the knowledge I have obtained over the years and through my education.
I completed my undergrad at Brock University and attained a Bachelor of Arts in Child Health. I then proceeded to attend Yorkville University and completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I am currently practicing as a Registered Psychotherapist.
I have been in practice for about 2 years now. My focus is on building a trusting and empathetic therapeutic relationship, while using a therapeutic approach of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), shaped by a biopsychosocial model.
I use attachment theory and the notion of early attachments to help build a foundation, understanding, and awareness of present day behaviours.
My areas of interest and expertise include:
CBT, DBT, children and youth, early childhood attachments/trauma, coping skills, stress management, emotion regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal conflict, and self esteem.
